About NDA Attempt Calculator

What This Website Does

NDAAttemptCalculator.com helps students figure out how many NDA exam attempts they have left. The UPSC conducts the NDA & NA examination twice a year, and eligibility is based entirely on age — specifically, whether a candidate will be between 16.5 and 19.5 years old on the course commencement date.

Because UPSC does not cap the number of attempts, the total number of chances a student gets depends on their date of birth. This calculator takes a candidate's DOB and maps it against every upcoming NDA exam to show exactly which ones they can apply for.

Why This Website Exists

The NDA eligibility rules around age and course commencement dates confuse many students. The age is not counted from the exam date — it is counted from the date the training course starts at the National Defence Academy (January for NDA I, July for NDA II). This tool exists to give students a clear, instant answer instead of making them calculate it manually from the UPSC notification.

How We Get Our Information

All eligibility rules, DOB ranges, and exam dates on this website are based on the official UPSC NDA & NA notification published at upsc.gov.in. The age formula (16.5 to 19.5 years on the course commencement date) has been consistent across NDA notifications.

For future exam cycles where the official notification has not yet been released, the calculator uses the same standard formula to project DOB ranges. These projections are clearly marked. Once the official notification is published, we update the data to match.

Editorial Transparency & Who We Are

Our Team

NDAAttemptCalculator.com is developed and maintained by the DigitalMDY Team — a dedicated group of defence exam mentors, subject matter writers, and ex-aspirants. Having navigated the confusing age criteria and strict eligibility rules of the UPSC ourselves, we built this platform to provide absolute clarity to future candidates.

Our Editorial & Review Process

Every piece of content on our site, from the calculator logic to our deep-dive educational guides, undergoes a strict editorial review process.

  • Source Verification: All dates, age limits, physical standards, and syllabus details are cross-referenced directly with official UPSC NDA & NA notifications.
  • Expert Authorship: Our guides are written by mentors who understand the intricacies of the SSB 5-day process and the written exam structure.
  • No Automated Content: We do not use AI to generate factual claims or rules. Every guide is manually written, fact-checked, and regularly updated to reflect the latest UPSC announcements.

Our goal is to ensure you never miss an attempt due to miscalculation, and that you approach your preparation with the most accurate, reliable information available.
